For Personal Use

UNM students, faculty and staff are eligible to purchase software for use on their home computers — often at special discounted pricing — from the UNM Bookstore.

In addition, students, faculty and staff have access to a number of other software applications at no cost. These include:

GroupWise Calendar and other software related to NetID accounts, available from the ITS Download page
Setup DUN, a free dial-up utility, available at the ITS Support Center, Room 1005 of the ITS Building

For UNM Department Use

ITS Software Distribution negotiates discounted prices, by volume, contract or site license, for software products used on UNM-owned shared and desktop computers. Software Distribution is located in Room 1004 of the ITS Building. (For a list of computer hardware suppliers with whom UNM has special pricing agreements, see UNM Computer Equipment Vendors.)

ITS Software Distribution sells only to UNM departments through Purchase Requisitions (PRs).

All software is subject to copyright protection per the University Business Policies and Procedures Manual (UBPPM) Title 2510, Computer Use Guidelines, see Section 3, (3.1, 3.1.1).

Pricing Note Per site license agreements, a software license must be purchased for each desktop computer on which the software is installed, e.g., if you want to install Microsoft Office on three computers, you must buy three licenses at $54 each for a total cost of $162.

Software Support

ITS provides technical support for many products that are considered generic or that have broad, campus-wide, cross-discipline application. Some software sold by ITS may not be supported, or may have limited support. For the support status of specific software products, see the ITS Supported Software page.
