Security Incident Report
What to do if you suspect your computer and/or your account has been compromised:
-
Change your UNM NetID password. This is the first thing you should do if you suspect the security of your account has been breached. This will help prevent the offender from gaining further access to your account. Contact your Business Security Administrator to change your password for MVS, TSO, IDMS and other computer accounts.
-
Gather information about the incident. Keep a record of log files and system changes, as well as any other information regarding the incident. This information will provide a timeline for the incident and assist ITS in identifying the offender. It may also serve as evidence in the event of litigation or criminal prosecution.
-
File a Security Incident Report. Complete and submit this form. ITS Security will contact you and help you resolve the problem. You may also send email to security@unm.edu. If sending copies of email, include the full headers. Please do not submit spam or phishing incidents or, forward spam or phishing email with this form. Thank You.
- Please be aware that UNM keeps DHCP logs for 28 days. UNM will be unable to address reported incidents that are reported more than 28 days after an alleged incident.
