Hardware Maintenance Services

ITS provides hardware maintenance services for computer equipment and peripherals owned by UNM departments and units only.

Repairs/upgrades can be provided on-site anywhere on campus, or at ITS. UNM-owned equipment used in private homes must be brought to ITS for repairs and upgrades. All service or purchases require a Purchase Requisition issued by a UNM department or unit.

The labor rate is $60.00 per hour, with a minimum of $30.00, plus parts.

Post-Warranty Repairs and Upgrades

Hardware Maintenance staff are trained to repair the following:

Windows computers
Windows-compatible clones
Apple Macintosh computers
A variety of dot matrix, inkjet and laser printers

Upgrade service (e.g., memory, hard disks, CD-RW, I/O, etc.) is also available.

Warranty Service

ITS Hardware Maintenance is an authorized warranty service provider for Gateway desktop computers. Warranty repair service is also provided for Dell desktop, laptop and server computers. Post-warranty repair service is available for Gateway and Dell desktop and laptop computers, as well as Macintosh computers.

Operating System Re-installs

ITS Hardware Maintenance offers operating system re-installation service for Windows computers: Windows 2000 and XP only. As part of this service, all files are completly deleted from a corrupted drive, the operating system and drivers (customers must supply the original operating system CDs) are re-installed and network settings configured.

The labor rate is $60.00 per hour, up to a maximum of three hours for desktop computers and four hours for laptops/notebooks.

Equipment Sales

Computer-related equipment, such as hard drives, memory, CD-ROM, CD-RW, removable storage, network cards, cables and modems, may be purchased for departmental use from ITS Hardware Maintenance at discounted pricing.

Note: You can not purchase computers from Hardware Maintenance. UNM maintains purchase agreements with several computer equipment suppliers. See the ITS Vendors page for more information.
